HVAC Rough-In

HVAC stands for Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning. These subsystems are often roughed in at the same stage of a house's construction.

Your heating and cooling system is going to have a huge impact on the enjoyment of the house, so you'll want to choose wisely. Today, furnaces are rated by their efficiency, ranging from 80% to 95%. The issues here are obvious: a more efficient unit will also be more expensive, but it will pay for itself in saved fuel in several years.

The other important issue to examine is a furnace's BTUs--which stands for British Thermal Units. This is a measure of how much heat the furnace can generate. A furnace that is too small for the square footage will struggle to heat the house. A furnace that is too big is also undesirable, because it will waste energy and overheat some rooms.

Some of our competitors cut corners by using low-efficiency (80%) furnaces. None of that for us; at Ashley Homes, we use name-brand (Trane) high-efficiency (92%) furnaces that will yield years of comfortable and worry-free heating and cooling.

Where possible, we recommend using natural gas as a fuel; for rural properties, propane is your most efficient option. In our area, there are many propane-supply companies to choose from.
